History:
The Rottweiler has roots in ancient Rome, where Roman drover dogs were used to herd cattle and guard camps. These dogs eventually made their way to the German town of Rottweil, where they were bred with local dogs to create a powerful herding and guarding breed. Rottweilers became known as butchers dogs, pulling carts of meat to market and protecting their owners money. With the decline of cattle driving, the breed nearly disappeared but was revived in the early 20th century for police and military work. Today, Rottweilers are valued for their strength, intelligence, and loyalty as both working dogs and family protectors.
