History:
The Golden Retriever was developed in the late 19th century in Scotland by Sir Dudley Marjoribanks, later known as Lord Tweedmouth. He sought to create the ideal hunting dog capable of retrieving game from both land and water in the rugged Scottish Highlands. By crossing a Yellow Retriever with the now extinct Tweed Water Spaniel, along with Bloodhounds and Irish Setters, he developed a breed with a soft mouth, excellent swimming ability, and a keen sense of smell. Over time, the breed gained popularity not only as a hunting companion but also as a family pet due to its friendly disposition. The Golden Retriever was officially recognized by kennel clubs in the early 20th century and quickly became one of the most beloved breeds worldwide.
