History:
The Great Pyrenees originated in the Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain, where it was bred as a livestock guardian dog. Their thick coats allowed them to withstand harsh weather conditions, while their calm demeanor helped them work independently. The breed was later favored by French nobility and even became a royal dog in the court of King Louis XIV. Today, the Great Pyrenees is known for its protective instincts and gentle nature with family members.
