Beagle

Description:
Curious and energetic, Beagles are friendly hounds known for their strong sense of smell, playful nature, and love of exploring the world around them.

Fun Fact:
Beagles have around 220 million scent receptors, making them one of the best tracking dogs in the world.

History:
The Beagle origin can be traced back to ancient hunting dogs used in England as early as the Roman era. However, the modern Beagle was developed in Great Britain during the 19th century for hunting small game such as rabbits and hares. Bred to work in packs, Beagles were prized for their stamina, keen sense of smell, and distinctive baying bark that helped hunters track their location. Their manageable size made them ideal for hunters who traveled on foot. Over time, Beagles transitioned from hunting companions to beloved family pets due to their friendly and sociable nature. Today, they are also widely used in detection roles, including airport security, because of their incredible scent tracking abilities.
